This Privacy Policy explains how Creato Ventures LLC (registered at Sharjah Media City, United Arab Emirates, license number 2645087), operating the Zook platform (“Zook”, “we”, “us”), collects, uses, and protects your personal data. We act as the data controller for personal data processed through the Zook mobile application and website (the “Platform”). This Policy is prepared with reference to UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on the Protection of Personal Data (the “PDPL”).
2. Data we collect
Account data: your name, UAE mobile number, email address, and identity verification data, which may include Emirates ID details, collected during registration and verification.
Transaction data: listings you create, purchases and sales you make, payment method identifiers (we do not store full card numbers), payout details, delivery addresses, and dispute records.
Inspection data: details and photographs of devices you submit for inspection, including serial numbers and IMEI numbers, captured by Zook inspectors.
Usage and device data: app and browser information, IP address, device identifiers, and interaction logs, used for security, fraud prevention, and improving the Platform.
3. How we use your data
We use personal data to: create and manage your account; verify your identity as required for marketplace safety and applicable law; conduct inspections and publish graded listings; process payments, payouts, and deliveries; provide buyer protection and resolve disputes; prevent fraud and enforce our Terms; comply with legal obligations; and communicate service updates. With your consent, we may also send marketing communications, which you can opt out of at any time.
4. Legal bases
We process personal data where it is necessary for the performance of our contract with you, for compliance with our legal obligations, for our legitimate interests in operating a safe marketplace (such as fraud prevention), or with your consent where required by the PDPL.
5. Sharing your data
We share personal data only as needed to operate the Platform: with payment service providers to process payments; with courier partners to deliver items (name, phone number, delivery address); with Zook inspectors for inspection scheduling; with professional advisers; and with competent authorities where required by UAE law. We do not sell your personal data.
6. International transfers
Where personal data is transferred outside the UAE (for example, to cloud infrastructure providers), we do so in accordance with the PDPL, using providers that offer an adequate level of protection or appropriate safeguards.
7. Retention
We retain personal data for as long as your account is active and as required for legal, accounting, dispute resolution, and fraud prevention purposes. Transaction and inspection records may be retained after account closure where UAE law requires.
8. Security
We apply technical and organizational measures appropriate to the risk, including encryption in transit, access controls, and monitoring. No system is completely secure; please keep your credentials confidential and notify us of any suspected unauthorized access.
9. Your rights
Subject to the PDPL, you have rights to access your personal data, request correction of inaccurate data, request deletion, object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
